Today was our last day so we thought we would tick off a few more things off our list. So we collected and dissected owl pellets and went on a boat ride with Andy.

The reason we dissected owl pellets was to see if we could discover any new species on the island. We found a rat’s jawbone in one of the owl pellets so Heather was going to send them off to a professional to look at.

Our boat ride with Andy was a rocky one; luckily I had taken a motion sickness tablet beforehand. However it was worth it because… we saw a GOLDEN EAGLE! It was spectacular! I had never seen one before and it is true what they say, “the golden eagle is known as the flying barn door.” They are massive.

My time on the Isle of Carna has been amazing; I have learnt so much since being here and seen some incredible things. I have seen my first golden eagle and wild otter. I have also been part of the group that discovered nudibranch, common blenny, butterfish, common starfish, crabs, lizards and many more species on the island. I highly recommend visiting the Isle of Carna because I sure will be going there again.
