Cummersdale Holme visit No.4

8th March 2015

I was so inspired by my visit to Cummersdale on the 7th March that I decided to go again. The weather was beautiful, blue sky and bright warm sunshine.

I really wanted to see the Otter Lutra lutra and the Kingfisher Alcedo atthis. I walked through the place that the fisherman took me and I creeped up to the waters edge very slowly to see what I could see. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the Kingfisher Alcedo atthis, he sat on a perch opposite me, the perfect place to take a photo. Until unfortunately a dog on the otherside of the river scared him off. I was very disappointed. I carried on up the river and came across a Grey Heron Ardae cinerea and managed to get a photo of him before he flew away. As we waled up the path we came across some beautiful birds such as, a DipperCinclus, Goldfinch Carduelis carduelis, Blue tit Cyanistes caeruleus and RobinErithacus rubecula. As we were taking photos of the birds a Rabbit Lepus curpaeums jumped out of the bush and ran away as fast as he possibly could to get away from us!

Today was such a beautiful day and I’m really glad I went out to Cummersdale, I find it so fascinating what I can see every time I go. It makes me want to go again and again, so until next time…
